Mid Illini Sail & Power Squadron
2024 Abaco Islands Flotilla
March 2024
) as weThe Mid Illini Sail & Power Squadron is making preparations for a March 2024 Abaco Islands Flotilla. This flotilla is primarily for skippers who have participated in a previous BVI flotilla.
Since we are planning for previous flotilla participants to sail with us, we anticipate that skippers will organize their own crews.
The Abaco Islands sailing Conditions and navigation will be a bit more challenging (and designed for skippers who have participated in previous BVI flotillas). The Sea of Abaco has depths of 6 to 12 feet with shoals and reefs. The typical boat draft is 4 - 5 1/2 foot. Winds are generally easterly at 5 to 20 knots. Anchorages are usually good holding with some mooring balls available in most areas.
The Moorings Abaco Islands Information
In the PDF below we outline the training curriculum we are offering to prepare participants (but please be sure to check our Education Page for updates on classes and curriculum) as well as additional information on the flotilla including estimated costs.
